Well I can't say that I'm not glad this is over. The crunch to finish timely was stressful and meant that one could not go more into in depth on any one thing. Having said that, I did find a couple of fave sites. Those that dealt with pictures, music downloads, or comedy of some sort gave insight into just what interests folks. I feel that we are by default always learning and that the www is just one more tool on that journey. I cannot imagine how the coming generations will use this tool. Their dependence on the speed of information makes me dizzy. They have to learn a whole new protocol in relationships and we'll still have to protect their innocence from those who would abuse their trust.

Downloading - . I was impressed with the amount of topics already available. Plagiarizing will take on a whole new meaning. Ethics at the elementary level needs to be considered. The step-by-step provided was clear and concise but I'd probably need a neighbor's kid to actually do any thing with this. It's fun to think how portable we are becoming. Hook me up anywhere and I can make a production out of something.

Looked at the podcasts site again. The 'tutorial' inbeded there was most informative and had good info for those wishing to do podcasting. The topics were comonsense so that you should not get into trouble. Still too many ads!

Checked into several of the podcasts sights. Of particular note was the amount of advertising on any sight. They all seem to have a 'top ten' list, luckily with a short review that saved one a bit of effort in deciding what was right. There were some buffering to some of the sites. Podcast Alley gave an overview of a great many subjects. It just is a forum for the 'everyman' with an opinion and something to say

I checked into the YouTube site. They had set up a catagory list so that you could go with your basic interests. Still, the thing I find is before you know it, you're deep into other peoples' interests. The animated ones were interesting to me (Tales of a mere existence, Reflection) showed creativity as well as a sense of purpose for the creator. I don't really care to view too many so I'll check into others later.

Avatar Salute

It was good to see the creativness that the avatars brought out in the library staff. We must really need the outlet.

Yikes. I signed up for the ZOHO WRITER but, after the fact, could not find their blogability button. So, I'll just have to look at this/them another time.

360 Yahoo, My Space, Facebook, my opera, dogster Name it and it's out there. They mostly feel like personal diaries! My child is on facebook through UT and keeps in contact with friends. Again, there really is a subject for everyone to be found on the www, but I don't chose to go there yet, if ever.

WK 8 Waits

Well, I must say that I am surprised that I have managed to get through the seven week activities. I hope that the remainder weeks and excercises will be as illuminating.

Not sure I'll be comfortable with using Flickr. Some of the maps & pictures etc. show amazing travel trips and photoes. I feel that lots of people invest lots of time in doing wonderful things but are we now doing it as a one-up-manship to others or really showing our true interests.

I commented onto the presented post. With all the stuff available on the www, one can truly find a proper forum for self expression.

The 'WIKI' world can be as complicated as one wants. Checking some of the sites such as the Booklover's and the ALA shows how diverse and indiviualized one can make the site.

Sand box bogged down. Could not find the update button!

Tagging is more than I am up to. The sample given about Web 2.0 with various words referenced was clever but, again I do limited use with the computor here and not at home at all.

Reviewing three articles: Iceberg - liked the analogy but did not seem to follow through too well.
Cooperate: The idea of reaching out to the entire web seems daunting
Temp place in time: daring to go beyond web 2.0 appealed to me because it recognized that the personal touch will remain important.

The 'technorati' seems to be rather more of a new face for the 'literati' of old. Until all have personal computors at their fingertips...

Comment Wk 6 Del.icio.us

Very interesting tool. Could provide schools another tool in reaching students who fail in traditional settings. They could get involved without overt peer pressure.

Comment Wk 5 Library Thing

This is a good idea for those wanting or needing to share their readings with others.

Comment wk 5 Elf

The Elf is an excellent idea. Patrons that have so many books/items out but can't remember due dates can keep track by spending time looking at the screen. The whole family could be involved with keeping track of their own books.

Comment - WK 4

There are tons of 'feeds' on the www. Chosing the standard favorites is the quickest way to meet the demands of the challenge when one does not have all the time in the world.

YIKES

Thank goodness there are quick samples of feeds from which to choose. The complications are daunting.
